March 2015 Edublogs Student Blogging Challenge

Dear Students,

I’ve registered our class for the March 2015 Edublogs Student Blogging Challenge and will post the first challenge on our class blog on Sunday, March 1st.

Each week, for the next ten weeks, you’ll be expected to complete a new task on your blog, and then share what you’ve done (or learned) on our class blog as a comment.

If you would like to participate as an individual, just tap on the Student Blogging Challenge image in the righthand sidebar and follow the steps to register.

Registering as an individual means that you will be assigned a mentor and join a group of students bloggers from other schools.  You don’t have to sign up.  However, if you’re interested in making connections with students at other schools, I strongly recommend you join the challenge!

Edublogs Awards: Which Blogs Earn Your Vote for the Best Class and Student Blogs of 2014?

Dear Students,

Voting is open for the 2014 Edublog Awards.  Check out the nominated class blogs and student blogs, and then leave a comment on this post to encourage others to check out the blogs that you like best.  You might mention one or more of the following in your comment.

  • Which class blog do you like most?  Why?
  • Which student blog do you like most?  Why?
  • What suggestions do you have for our class blog after looking at the featured class blogs?
  • What new ideas do you have for what you might post on your own blog after looking at the featured student blogs?

Be sure to include the URL (web address) of any class blog or student blog that you mention in your comment to make it easy for readers to check out the blog for themselves!

I encourage you to leave comments on the blogs that you like most, too.  You might take the opportunity to introduce yourself, and then tell the author how you found her or his blog and why you like it.  Be sure to include the URL to our class blog (https://writingwithmrj.edublogs.org/) when you comment on other’s blogs so they can check out our class blog in turn.

Edublogs Class Blogging Challenge: Week 1

Dear Students,

Welcome to week one of the Edublogs Student Blogging Challenge!  Our class blog was mentioned in the week 1 challenge, we’ve already had one visitor from another participating class, the Technology Threaders, and I’m hoping we make more connections this week!

The week 1 challenge is the creation of an about page.  Last year, we created one as a class, and we might decide to keep some things the same.  However, it’s important to me that our “About” page reflect who we are as a class this year–and that means I need feedback from you.

I invite you to visit and read the “About” pages of the other class blogs featured in this week’s challenge.  You can also look up other classes that are participating in the class blog challenge.

What do you notice about others’ “About ” pages that you like and would like to see included on our “About” page?  What suggestions do you have for how we might change ours?

I look forward to hearing your ideas!
